Tim Gunn offers in the video below his five fashion essential must-haves in every woman’s wardrobe, even if you’re on a budget. I added in the slideshow some celebrity fashion images for interest and inspiration.
Here Gunn’s list:
- 1. Trench coat
Tim says, “A trench coat can be thrown over anything from a tee shirt and jeans to an evening gown you wear to the Opera.”
I recommend a classic khaki trench to start off with and add to your wardrobe as you go along. Red is a one of my favorite colors because the color red attracts prosperity, romance and abundance.
Navy, black, metallic blue and/or pink are wonderful additions to spice things up in the closet. A classic trench coat is an essential part of a wardrobe collection so it’s important to buy one of quality. The trench coat style has endured the fashion ages and will live life much longer than any fashion trend.
- 2. LBD: Little Black Dress (Enough said already)
- 3. Floral dress: If you are like me and you can’t wear or don't like flower prints an easy substitution is a lace dress.
Dresses in any bold color like red, pink, cobalt blue, emerald green and/or any graphic print, color block or stripped dress will do.
- 4. Blazer: Navy blazers say so much about how you feel about yourself more than any other jacket.
Yes, we all need a trendy Moto, denim and anorak in our wardrobe. However, one quick way for an outfit to communicate perfectly polished is a blazer. I recommend navy, black and red.
- 5. Dark denim: There are so many denim styles, colors and washes to choose from the selection process can be complicated.
Effortless style requires dark denim that works with boots, pumps and ballet flats. Quality means reviewing the thread count and how the denim is woven. Purchasing quality denim maybe spendy but worth it. Why? Because the denim jeans will last up to 5 to 7 years if the style is classic and fits well it’s worth paying the big bucks for great dark denim jeans.
Tim Gunn’s five fashion essentials must-haves are of course just the tip of a woman’s wardrobe iceberg and what a classy way to kickstart your own personal style into motion.
