Tim Conway entertains at Hanover and Wilbur Theatres—Part 2 of Report

Saturday, 4/9

Contemporary folksinger Martin Sexton appears at the Higher Ground Ballroom in South Burlington, VT at 7:30PM.

The Rose Garden Coffeehouse in Mansfield, MA hosts the bluegrass group Southern Rail at 8PM.

Two Cape Cod coffeehouses have 8PM starts.  The Sweetback Sisters bring country swing to the Grange Hall in Sandwich.  Celtic folksinger Kristina Stykos performs with folk/rockers Holy Plow at the First Encounter Coffeehouse in Eastham.

At the Zeiterion Theatre at 8PM the New Bedford Symphony will feature violinist Catherine Manoukian in a program that includes selections from Brahms, Copland and Khachaturian.

The Coasters and The Platters will take you back to the ‘50’s and ‘60’s at the Paramount Theatre in Rutland, VT beginning at 8PM.

Ernie Boch, Jr. has put together a pretty good rock band.  Ernie & the Automatics have a 9PM start at Point Breeze Restaurant in Webster, MA.

Duke Robillard has had a good blues band for quite awhile now.  They appear at the Knickerbocker Café in Westerly, RI at 9PM.

Saturday, 4/9 and Sunday, 4/10

Tim Conway is in Worcester Saturday with comical friends Louise DuArt and Chuck McCann to entertain at the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts starting at 7PM.  They repeat at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston at 4PM on Sunday.

The Portland Symphony Pops Orchestra performs a tribute to Elvis Presley at 7:30PM on Saturday and again on Sunday at 2:30PM in Portland’s Merrill Auditorium.

Titanic Expressions is a symphony orchestra which will perform works of Mahler and Brahms each day at the Palace Theater in Stamford, CT.  Saturday’s concert is at 8PM and Sunday’s is at 3PM.

The St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Russia’s oldest symphonic ensemble, makes a guest appearance at Symphony Hall in Boston at 3PM.

The Vanilla Bean Café in Pomfret, CT presents folk music in the person of Jeffrey Foucault starting at 7PM.

At 7PM at the Mohegan Sun Casino, country singer Jessica Andrews takes the stage in the Wolf Den while the Trans-Siberian Orchestra begins their tribute to Beethoven in The Arena.

The Firehouse Home Concert Series presents Violinist Nicholas Kitchen and cellist Yeesun Kim at the Clay Homestead in Newburyport beginning at 7:30PM.

Monday, 4/11 thru Thursday, 4/14

The New England Conservatory in Boston gets to show what their students have learned with the NEC Philharmonia performing works of Liszt, Wagner and Rouse on Monday and the NEC Symphony taking on Rachmaninoff’s Symphony #2 on Wednesday.  Both concerts begin at 8PM at Jordan Hall.

Infinity Hall is busy three weekdays in a row.  Erin McKeown leads her folk/rock band there on Tuesday with Amy Correira opening at 7:30PM.  Jazz and rock are on tap at 8PM on Wednesday thanks to TR3 which features Tim Reynolds.  Finally, Tower of Power brings their pop/jazz sound to the stage for two shows on Thursday—at 6:30PM and 9:30PM.

Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks are a folk/jazz group that entertains at Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, MA on Wednesday at 7:30PM.

On Thursday at 7:30PM the Hartford Symphony performs works of Brahms and Beethoven at The Bushnell’s Maxwell and Ruth Belding Theater.

The John Jorgenson Quintet brings gypsy swing to Eastman Performing Arts Center in Fryeburg, ME on Thursday at 7:30PM.

Rock artist Jesse Colin Young appears at One Longfellow Square in Portland, ME on Thursday at 8PM.
