Examiner spoke with Charron about his music and what it's like to work with country music's hottest talent.

Examiner: You've recorded three albums to date, how has your music changed since that first album?

Charron: "My music has evolved a lot since the first record. I started in the rock zone and have been cruising more towards country music lately. I grew up on rock and roll, then discovered country music and just fell in love with the stories and songs. Being a songwriter is the greatest thing in the world to me and I write about things that I know about as well as being influenced by what I listen to . The past few years I have been listening to a lot of country rock : Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney That melds with my older influences like Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Springsteen, John Mellencamp."

Examiner: When you write a song, do you start with the words first or with music?

Charron: "I usually start with a title and write the music and melody at the same time . I find it flows better than if I try to fit words to a melody or vice versa."

Examiner: What's the inspiration behind your song?

Charron: "My songs are all based on things I live. Even the "story" songs about other people/characters have a little bit of me in them. Chasing the Sun : About a guy who breaks up with his girl and fly to the islands and stays Island Life : About a guy and girl that run away to the islands . Same as I did after selling my stuff, quitting my job and hitting the road. Three Sheets to the Wind : Inspired by a sailing trip on Christmas Day Livin The Dream : A rocker about working hard and celebrating life."

Examiner: Tell me something that you never told anyone else?

Charron: "Half the music on my ipod is in Spanish. I love Latin music!"

Examiner: You state that your music has a twist of lime, what does that mean?

Charron: "Well, my music is my lifestyle and my lifestyle is my music. I spend every winter in the islands, I am a professional beach bum, I love the tropical lifestyle … so it comes out in my songs . That is why I named the last record "Chasing The Sun" . I literally chase the sun every year. I am based in Nashville , tour the north during the summer, then tour the south during the winter."

Examiner: How does it feel to open up for people like Bret Michaels and so many others who you've been fortunate enough to share the stage with?

Charron: "It is a little surreal because a lot of these people were my heros growing up. The beautiful thing about it is I get to watch and learn from the best in the world."

Examiner: What have you learned from working with Michaels, Randy Travis and the Charlie Daniels Band?

Charron: "I learned from Randy Travis and Charlie Daniels the power of being personable with your fans. And Randy says "The key to a great career is great material. It is all about having great songs" Bret is a great example of branding yourself, leveraging the brand and the power of simply putting on a fun, entertaining, energetic rock and roll concert."

Examiner: Upcoming dates?

Charron: On August 27, 2014 I have a Free homecoming concert in North Kingstown Rhode Island at the Town Beach. Show starts at 7:00 p.m.

I'm opening for Bret Michaels again on September 13, 2014 at Indian Ranch in Webster Mass. at 1:00 p.m.
