After having to cancel their show in Atlanta because of a a sewage leak at The Earl, and sold out shows at Birmingham’s Bottletree and New Orleans’ Howlin’ Wolf, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim’s Pusswhip Banggang releases their single “Jambalaya” June 24. The hit song serves up a heaping helping of classic swamp rock with enough heat to keep you jamming through the cooking time of 4 minutes, 34 seconds. Need a second helping? No problem, Tim and Eric have you covered on the flip side. Just make sure to keep the comedy duo’s family recipes secret.
The live show featured songs from Pusswhip Banggang’s staples, “Don’t call me uncle” and “Kiss me once, shame on you. Kiss me twice (Let’s Party)” and some of “Casey and his Brother” and other “Tim and Eric: Awesome Show, Great Job!” classics that will leave everyone, including Jim Boonie, wanting a full length LP. Only three shows were planned, no future dates have been announced as of yet. Their performance was spot on to the comedic tone of the show and those in attendance, as usual, either got it, or were quite clearly lost. Which as always, makes it all the better.
“Jambalaya” is a limited edition direct-metal mastered full-color picture disc of Eric Wareheim floating on his back in a big pot of the Naw-Luns dish. It is released by Drag City, the same label that released “Urinal St. Station” by The Yellow River Boys, another Heidecker and Wareheim band, last year. Digital copies in MP3 and FLAC formats are also available.
