When the much anticipated LA Marathon comes to an exhausting halt at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and California this Sunday, many runners will be pushing themselves an extra couple of hundred steps to the corner of Broadway and 4th in Santa Monica, to luxurious TIKKUN Holistic Spa. As well as having a huge jacuzzi the size of a swimming pool that easily holds 20 people, the spa clearly has a big heart to match. TIKKUN have donated 1500 spa days to lucky runners participating on Sunday. The runners were selected because they are representing a non-profit charity in the gruelling four hour 26 mile challenge. Charities to be represented include Lupus, Epilepsy Foundation, Counseling For Kids, Time To End AIDS and many more. The lucky runners get to use the spa's luxurious facilities pre or post their marathon experience. The spa specializes in an array of speciality Heat Therapy rooms that are benefiting to athletes and those that use them in various ways. The advanced technology and commitment to healing is clearly what sets TIKKUN ahead of other spas. The rooms have healing minerals to help aid in relaxation, increase circulation and enhance metabolism. Sore and damaged tired muscles which are typical after a marathon can relax by reducing lactic acid. Muscle sprains which are common after a marathon can be healed by regular use of their state of the art Far Infrared rooms. The spa is owned by Niki Schwarz, who supports lots of charities, Niki's husband, renown orthopedic surgeon Dr Charles Schwarz who is also the Medical Director of TIKKUN, is a big fan of marathons having ran 25 himself, so collectively they came up with the idea.
