The 2013 American League MLB playoff schedule continues today as the Detroit Tigers take on the Oakland A’s in the ALDS best-of-five series. In a rematch match of last year’s ALDS in which the Tigers won in five games, both of these teams have the talent to win the AL pennant.
According to a Sportsline update on Oct. 4 the Tigers will send Cy Young candidate Max Scherzer to the mound in game one, and the A’s will counter with Bartolo Colon.
Scherzer finished the regular season with an incredible 21-3 record, 2.90 ERA and 240 strikeouts.
Not to be out done, Bartolo Colon turned the clock back in 2013 looking like the Colon of 10 years ago. The former flame thrower won 18 games this season and is a big reason why the A’s are in the playoffs.
Both of these teams have several All-Star's but it will most likely be the team that pitches well and has their big three step up at the plate that will advance to the ALCS. For the A's that's Josh Donaldson, Yoenis Cespedes and Brandon Moss and for the Tigers it's Miguel Cabrera, Torii Hunter and Prince Fielder.
People in Michigan know all about the "Big 3"as a way of living in the auto industry, but odds are the big three that produces the best for this series will be in the drivers seat.
