Tiger Woods update: Obama comments on Woods, dropped by sponsor GM, and Gatorade Unfaithful artist charged. President Obama said that Tiger Woods can “absolutely” be rehabilitated, after the scandal of women linked to Woods over the past few months.
In a People magazine interview that will be released Friday, President Obama said about Woods: “I don’t want to comment on his personal relationship with his wife and family, but I’m a strong believer that anybody can look within themselves, find their flaws and fix them.”
Obama said that he’s sure Tiger feels “terrible,” “and I suspect that he will try to put his life back together again.”
The latest sponsor to drop Tiger Woods is General Motors (GM), and according to People magazine Tiger Woods will no longer be able to drive GM vehicles for free. GM is now on a long list of sponsors who have withdrawn their support for the golfer. AT&T, Accenture, Gatorade, Gillette, and Tag Heuer have also either dropped or cut back on their advertising that includes Woods.
Jason Kay, the man who admitted to changing the labels on 100 bottles of Gatorade in Denver with an Unfaithful label and phone of Woods and wife, Elin has been charged with a felony and two misdemeanors, according to the Smoking Gun. Kay said that he acted alone, purchased the bottles, replaced the labels with his own black and white “pop art” label, and put them on the shelves at several grocery stores. Tiger Woods has been under intense media focus since the Thanksgiving car crash. A few days before Thanksgiving, the National Enquirer released a story about an alleged affair of Tiger Woods and Rachel Uchitel, and the story didn’t get much fan attention until after Woods crashed his car the day after Thanksgiving. Then multiple stories of Tiger Woods alleged affairs appeared and women came out with statements.
Tiger Woods favorability rating has been cut nearly in half over the past six weeks. It was at 85% before the Thanksgiving car crash and has dropped to 34%, according to a CNN poll. For more on the poll findings, click here.

Tiger Woods had his third knee surgery in Park City, Utah on April 15, 2008, and took two months off. He was determined to play in the US Open and win...which he did on June 14, 2008, much to everyone's amazement less than two months after his knee surgery. He was in pain during the US Open, as shown in this Associated Press photo. After the US Open, Tiger Woods took additional time off to let his knee heal.
