Tiger Woods is legendary. He is one of the best golf players of all time - if not the best. The Associated Press reports that Tiger Woods has been voted the best male player of the year by the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA) for this year. This is the tenth time in the past thirteen years that Woods has won this honor, and who could possibly argue with the fact that he is a brilliant golf player?
According to the Daily Inquirer, "The voting actually started three days before Woods had the car accident near his Florida home. But it’s important to note that most of the ballots were returned after Woods’ infidelity went public. The balloting closed on December 11, when Woods announced that he was gonna take an indefinite leave from golf and work on his marriage." Even though the voting took place before the scandal broke, should it matter? Doesn't Woods' athletic record speak for itself? If the voting had taken place after news of the scandal was made public, shouldn't he still have been voted the best golfer of the year?
In Augusta, Georgia, on April 7, 2010, the honorees will be awarded at the annual GWAA awards dinner.
