Tiger Woods photo: APIn a report by The New York Post it was announced today that Tiger Woods will be suspended from a writing gig that the pro-golfer has with Golf Digest. Tiger Woods wrote a monthly column that focused on playing golf, golfing tips, and other instructional advice. Since Tiger is taking an indefinite leave of golf, the magazine decided it was best for Tiger to cease writing the column.
The writing gig is worth $3,000,000 per year and Conde Nast, owner of Golf Digest, states that they are not finished working with Tiger as they are still in an active contract, but that they will suspend Tiger’s column for the time being. Golf Digest and their contract with Tiger came under public scrutiny recently as it was alleged that Tiger had been involved in a cover up by appearing on the cover of Men’s Fitness.
The Wall Street Journal broke the story (How Tiger Protected His Image) and detailed how due to Tiger’s contract with Golf Digest, he was prohibited from appearing on other magazine covers. He did agree to the Men’s Fitness photo shoot and it has been alleged that the transaction was due to photos that the National Enquirer had of Woods with one of his mistresses (alleged to be Mindy Lawton). Golf Digest has been under scrutiny for their handling of the Tiger Woods scandal as well. They haven’t written about the affairs openly and even the announcement that Tiger was suspended from the writing gig was revealed through an editor’s note.
