Tiger Woods' stays away from controversy, will not play Chevron World Challenge due to car accident

Pro golfer Tiger Woods has announced via his website, that he will not be participating in his self-hosted golf tourney this week due to injuries he sustained from the controversial car accident this past weekend.

The Chevron World Challenge, an off-season golf tournament hosted by Woods himself, will go on as planned but without the 33-year-old, nine-time PGA Player of the Year.

Tiger, who suffered facial lacerations from a car accident on Friday, has been in the spotlight since running into a fire hydrant outside his Florida home.

While Woods has asked for privacy, his appearance at the tournament has been an anticipated one, since rumors surrounding the accident have involved a cheating scandal, involving alleged mistress Rachel Uchitel who denies to "kiss and tell".

On his website, Tiger issued his remorse for the tourney's miss: "I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week," he said. "I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I'm very sorry that I can't be there."
