Tiger Woods sponsors update: Accenture leaves, Nike and Tag Heuer stand with golf star

AP

Tiger Woods has been the subject of a media firestorm for the past two weeks, and now news of his sponsors standing behind him, as well as dropped endorsement deals are making headlines. Accenture has dropped their deal with Woods, while Nike and Tag Heuer have decided to stand behind him.

Accenture said in a statement: "After careful consideration and analysis, the company has determined that he is no longer the right representative for its advertising." According to the Wall Street Jounal, an agent for Tiger Woods released a statement following Accenture's decision. Mark Steinberg said: "We are disappointed but respect their decision. That is all I have to say to you."

Tag Heuer said in a statement: "Over the coming weeks, Tag Heuer will assess its options with regard to its long-term relationship with Tiger Woods and IMG."

Nike, however, said in a statement that Woods has been a part of the company and will continue to be, and that he has their full support. Nike said: "Tiger has been part of Nike for more than a decade. He is the best golfer in the world and one of the greatest athletes of his era. We look forward to his return to golf," the sportswear and equipment supplier tells Usmagazine.com in a statement. "He and his family have Nike's full support."

What do you think? Should Woods' endorsements stay in tact?

If Tiger Wood's sponsors don't mind taking the "sleezeball reputation" ride along with Tiger, then they should hang with him. Hooray for Accenture!

Nike - Im not surprised. The organisations vision, mission, values are not as important as its PROFIT. True Capatalistic greed at its best! I wont be buying for sure.
Tag Heuer - Im not a customer. Cannot really comment.
    Full marks to Accenture!

I've been a Nike supporter, until now. I will no longer purchase their products and I'm disgusted that they consider their profits more important than their company values. It's sickening, and I want no part of them anymore.

I will no longer buy any Nike products if they find this behavior expectable. On their website they post their codes and policies for their employees, but I guess this doesn’t apply to the athletes they surround themselves with. When will companies like Nike have the backbone to do what’s right?

Woods had his day in the sun. Unfortunate as it is, when you're on the world stage, you must have world class credentials.
Woods doesn't. He's just another rich, arrogant athlete who could care less about anyone but himself. Doesn't say much for the companies he sponsors, does it? A stiff penis has no conscience. Woods ia a poster boy for infidelity! Talent, of course. Is it in his putter or in his putter? Did he really think that he could continue to get away with the behavior?
How can this guy be anyone's hero? I think everyone knows what's coming...His past behavior will only dictate his future behavior. We can only hope that at 34, his putter gives out on him. Actually, he's is finally going to get out of life what he deservess not what he wants. Also, jeers to the Golf Channel for running highlights from all his tournament wins over the holidays. Too bad this country will forgive, but they won't foget.......tempus fugit.
