Tiger Woods made his first television appearance since the cheating scandal broke on Friday morning, where he declared himself responsible for his "selfish" actions and multiple affairs.
Read below for some of the highlights:
"Many of you in this room are my friend. Many of you in this room know more. Many of you have cheered for me or you've worked for me or are supporting me. Now everyone of you has a reason to be critical of me. I want to say to each and every one of you...I am deeply sorry.
"People want to know how I could have done these things to my wife Elin and to my children, and while I have always tried to be a private person there are some things I want to say. Elin and I have started the process of the damage done by my behavior...my real apology will come in my behavior over time. We have a lot to discuss, and what we say to each other will be between the two of us.
"I have let you down, I have let down my fans. For many of you, especially my friends, my behavior has been my personal disappointment.
"To everyone involved in my foundation, including my staff, board of directors, sponsors, and especially the young students we reach, our work is more important than ever.
"But still I know I have bitterly disappointed all of you. I have made you question who I am and how I did things that I did...for all that I have done, I am so sorry.
"...Elin never hit me that night [in November] or any other night. There has never been an issue of domestic violence in our marriage. Ever. Elin deserves praise, not blame. The issue involved here was my repeated irresponsible behavior.
"I convinced myself that normal rules didn't apply...I thought only about myself.
"It's not what you achieve in life that matters -- it's what you overcome. It's hard to admit that I need help, but I do. From 45 days from the end of the December to February, I was in in-patient therapy.
"...Please know that as far as I'm concerned, every one of these questions and answers are a matter between Elin and me. Some people have made up things that never happened.
"...Please leave my wife and kids alone. I realize I have brought this on myself. I know I'm the one who needs to change. I owe it to my family to become a better person. I have a lot of work to do, and I intend to dedicate myself to doing it.
"Starting tomorrow, I will leave for more treatment and more therapy. I do plan to return to golf one day...I don't rule out that it will be this year.
"...Today, I want to ask for your help. I ask you to find room in your heart to one day believe in me again."

He is a golfer, not a candidate for pope. But, if I were Elin I would not believe him. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.
I am so thankful that Tiger is returning to his Buddhist teachings.
HA, What a joke.
Elin didn't show up, that says a lot. If she can't support him on this, then why should we?
I think everyone needs to butt out and let him and his family deal with it behind closed doors!
Who says that his wife is not supporting him, because she was not there does not mean that she is not supporting him, it may be a good thing that she was not there because the vultures will spend more time focusing on her and her every move......you guys a too judgmental and hypocritical. Its a good start.
I am glad that Tiger spoke on this subject.. but this whole situation isnt our business! What is.. is the great golf he plays not how many affairs he has had! I think its a sad situation all around but we dont know him personally and the only reason we know Tiger Woods is because of his talent in golf!! I am also so aggravated that people are so quick to judge him when I am sure they are not living perfectly! Remember if you are pointing fingers make sure yourhands are clean too!!
He needs to give it up and go be the playboy he is.
I am glad that Tiger Woods broke his silence. After listening to Tiger I feel positive that he is going in the right direction to get his derailed life back on the right track. I think that in each one of us there is a divine power that can be used to help us overcome any obstacle and adversity. I am encouraged that Tiger mentioned he is using his inner strength to regain balance in his life to save the two things that are most important to him, his wife and his children. Tiger said that Elin deserves praise and I wholeheartedly agreed. I want to tell Tiger that I hope and pray that one day Elin find room in her heart to believe in him again. God Bless!
