Tiger Woods released his first official statement since crashing his car into a tree in a car accident that took place on November 27, 2009. The official statement was made public today on his website and in it he addressed the rumors circulating the accident. These rumors range from his wife’s involvement with his injuries to speculation that he is having an affair with Rachel Uchitel (a story first made public by the National Enquirer). Tiger Woods said, that he had sustained injuries due to his single car accident and described those injuries as consisting of cuts and bruises and said that he is very sore. He took blame for the accident and said that he is only human and that the accident was his fault.
Tiger Woods said that he is not perfect and will make sure that ‘it’ doesn’t happen again. He said that the situation is a private matter and that he would like to keep it private. That seems to be an impossible task as the entire world is now focused on Rachel Uchitel and awaiting for Tiger Woods to speak with police to see if charges will be filed.
Though he stated that he understood the public’s curiosity surrounding the matter, he called the rumors circulating he and his wife (rumors ranging from domestic violence with his wife Elin Nordegren Woods, to the alleged affair with Rachel Uchitel) malicious and irresponsible.
When describing his wife’s role in the accident, Tiger Woods said that his wife Elin, acted courageously when she saw that he was hurt and in trouble. He credited his wife with being the first to respond to his injuries and said that any allegations or innuendos regarding her involvement were false.
Finally, he said that car accident and rumors have placed a great deal of stress on his family and though he was thankful for those who wished him well, he asked that the public give him privacy.
Though Tiger Woods addressed rumors surrounding his family as malicious, he did not flat out state to the public that he did not have an affair with Rachel Uchitel, as she did previously.
