Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn are dating, according to a March 18 Washington Post report. After months of rumors, the pair confirmed their status via their social media outlets.
Both Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn posted a total of four pictures using Facebook and Twitter. Together, they have at least 6 million followers. Tiger Woods posted on Facebook,
"This season has been great so far and I’m happy with my wins at Torrey and Doral. Something nice that’s happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating. We thank you for your support and for respecting our privacy. We want to continue our relationship, privately, as an ordinary couple and continue to compete as athletes."
Of course they want privacy, but the reality is that both Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn are high-profile athletes, and the chances that they will actually be able to date "normally" are indeed quite small. It is one of the prices of fame.
Later, skier Lindsey Vonn added her own Facebook announcement about dating legendary golfer (and philanderer) Tiger Woods. She said,
"I guess it wasn't a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods. Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy. I don’t plan on addressing this further as I would like to keep that part of my life between us, my family and close friends. Thank you for understanding and your continued support! xo LV."
Obviously it is nearly impossible to keep this type of secret with the amount of press and media attention these two get. Hopefully they will be able to continue having a healthy relationship despite the scrutiny.
It does seem as if this new relationship might be working well for Tiger Woods. He seems to be turning his golf game around a bit with his recent wins this season. Plus, Lindsey Vonn appears to be recovering well from her recent injury. Perhaps the two will thrive together.
