Lindsey Vonn recently endured a rough injury in the middle of the Alpine World Championships in Austria. The professional ski racer wound up tearing two ligaments in her right knee, and fractured her shin in the Tuesday accident.
According to a PEOPLE article dated Saturday, Feb. 10, The notorious Tiger Woods, 37, was on hand to help afterwards. Equipped with her crutches, Vonn, 28, boarded his private jet to return home.
As one might imagine, this has sparked rumors that the pair may be dating.
"Tiger and Lindsey have been friends for a while, and nothing started out romantically at all," a source tells PEOPLE.
"But they really have a lot in common and got closer and closer. He still refers to her as 'my very good friend,' but he's been spending more and more time talking to her – and talking about her," the source continued.
Woods hasn't been any stranger to scandal. He was formerly married to Elin Nordegren, but was reported to have had numerous affairs during the course of their marriage. His personal life has stayed in the spotlight ever since. Since his divorce from Nordegren, he hasn't had any known long-term relationships.
Last month, speculation began about the pro golfer and Vonn, but her reps kept details limited, telling PEOPLE, that her "focus is solely on competing and on defending her titles and thus she will not participate in any speculation surrounding her personal life at this time."
However, a source close to Woods reported to the rumored couple talk and text frequently. Woods and Vonn seem to be much closer than the average friends.
"Tiger really does want a woman who he can have good conversations with," he says. "He wants shared interests and outlooks. He is finding that with Lindsey," claimed the source.
"She's not freaked out by his past, and that's really appealing to him," says the source. "He really does deserve to be happy. He has been flogging himself for three years, and it's good to see him moving forward," continued the source.
As usual, different sources say different things. Like everything else, only time will tell.
