Tiger Woods' televised statement-reading on Friday has certainly inspired its share of conversation, and now another high-profile athlete is throwing his support behind the golfer: Olympic gold-medalist Shawn White.
According to E! Online, White had this to say about Tiger following his public apology:
"I don't think it takes away from his athletic side...I'm still a big fan of him. Pretty soon we will all realize that he's still a great guy deep down and he just made some bad calls."
Just many "bad calls" is a guy allowed to make? Shawn White has maintained an "edgy" reputation through his snowboarding career, but he has never faced the same level of public scrutiny as Tiger.
Unlike Tiger, White tends to fade in and out of the public eye; he is currently experiencing a peak in popularity thanks to his performance in Vancouver. On the other hand, White also has a long list of sponsors and even has a video game in his name.
Is it smart for Shaun White to support Tiger Woods? Let me know your thoughts with a comment below.

Matt,
Please check your spelling and grammar. The two-time Olympic Snowboarders name is S-H-A-U-N White, not Shawn White. Your grammer needs work. Also, you obviously are not familiar with Mr. White, as he does not "tend to fade in and out of the public eye", you only need to know where to look to find him. One aspect of Shaun White's persona is that he is very rarely known for making unwise decisions. I am certian he gave considerable thought in his choice to support Tiger Woods (as he did Andre Agassi) and I, for one, happen to agee with him 100%.
Try proof reading your articles before you publish them, you spelled Mr. White's name 2 different ways and you're missing some words in there.
I admire Shaun White for supporting Tiger Woods. "The Fame Monster" must be an incredible and also difficult experience. I am sure a young snowboarder as famous as Shaun White has had a glimpse of what temptations there are. My family has no athletes in it, but some high level musicians. They had their share of temptations with groupies. Tiger should get back to what he does best! I am hoping to see Shaun White at Stratton Mountain in March. Go Shaun!
I noticed the incorrect spelling of Shaun's name as well, and 500% agree that he does not "fade in and out", but in reference to what Shaun SAID about Tiger, I agree, plus this should be between Tiger and his wife, none of us were there. Tiger is still a great athlete and it is not up to us to judge him. After all, there was only one perfect One and they crucified Him! Thanks, Shaun, I hope we see more support the man and forgive him, he's only human!
