Tiger Woods accident TMZ reports inaccurate, says FHP

According to recent reports FHP (Florida Highway Patrol) has taken a stand against TMZ’s reporting of Tiger Woods and his Friday car accident by stating the site’s reporting is inaccurate. FHP continues to be the sole investigator into the cause of the crash and clarified through an E-Mail release to the media that they have not released any information to ‘sources’ including much of the information that has been posted at TMZ. Some of the allegations made by TMZ include that sources stated Tiger Woods’ wife, Elin had scratched his face, beat him with a golf club, attacked his vehicle with the golf club, that the couple was seen fighting before the accident and that the fight was due to Tiger Woods’ alleged mistress, Rachel Uchitel, and that FHP was seeking search warrants to obtain blood samples and medical reports from Health Central Hospital, the hospital where Tiger Woods was admitted shortly after the accident. It is important to remember through all of the speculation and allegations that Tiger Woods was seen by medical doctors immediately following the car accident. Should there have been signs of domestic abuse or violence that did not fit in accordance with the car accident, the medical staff would more than likely have been alerted. Medical doctors observed Tiger Woods following the accident, which would provide more credible information than looking for signs of abuse several days later.

Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes stated, “Contrary to various media reports, the Florida Highway Patrol has not made any comments regarding the details of the ongoing crash investigation involving Tiger Woods as it relates to medical information, or any other aspect of this investigation.”

A search at the Orange County clerk of courts showed that there was no current search warrant on record for Tiger Woods’ medical records, an allegation made by TMZ. To even greater clarify the confusion, Fox news reported that Captain Mark Welch, who serves as the chief of public affairs for the Florida Highway Patrol stated that they do not need to obtain a search warrant to get medical records.

Another fact that should be taken into consideration is that by law, medical doctors are required to report domestic violence. If there had been any indication that Tiger Woods was being mistreated by his wife, had been scratched in the face, or hit in the head with a golf club, the medical staff would have been required by law to report it to authorities.

Regarding the site TMZ and getting medical records, the Palm Beach Post reports that Sgt. Kim Montes said they hadn’t asked for the records but it is an option that is available in their investigation.
