The walk has been undervalued for nearly a century. Until recently, clubs expected players to drive in runs as opposed to accept a base on balls. During his playing career, Ted Williams received criticism for his willingness to walk with runners on base. Andre Dawson famously quipped he was not paid to walk. The pendulum has since swung in the other direction. Now, walks might be overvalued as players attempt to pad the OBP with runners on as opposed to knocking them in. In over a century of play, the more than a dozen Tigers have led the American League in walks. The following is a list of those Tiger players.
