According to Matthew Scianitti of TSN on Thursday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released former Calgary Stampeder quarterback Henry Burris.

Burris, who led the Tiger-Cats to the Grey Cup Final last season, was released after Hamilton signed Zach Collaros, who was the backup to Ricky Ray in Toronto last year.

Burris led the CFL with 4925 yards last year, but also led the CFL with 19 interceptions. Collaros also put up solid numbers while Ray was injured last season. He completed 190 passes in 287 attempts for 2316 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Since being released, Burris has been offered a contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, but claims he needs some time to decide his future.

A class act, Burris was quoted in congratulating the Tiger-Cats and Collaros, who signed a three year deal with Hamilton.

Burris played with the Stampeders from 1997-1999 and again from 2005-2011. He was a Grey Cup Most Valuable Player while with Calgary in 2008 and was the CFL's Most Outstanding Player in 2010.
