A long-term substitute teacher engaged in extracurricular activities by having sex with two male students and even though the boys were both 18, she's in hot water. Tiffany Leiseth, 26, apparently initiated relationships with two Pa. high school seniors by sending them nude photos of herself, according to NewsMax on July 10.
The photos were bad enough, but each boy reports going to this married teacher’s home and having sex with her. The first student had sexual relations with this teacher on the last day of school and the other student went to her home the very next day to engage in sex.
One of the boys admitted to authorities that the teacher gave him alcohol to drink while he was at her house. The school got wind of rumors that a teacher was sending nude pictures of herself to boys in the class.
Police got involved once the New Brighton School District superintendent received two separate reports of a teacher sending nude photos to two of her students. The teacher was identified in the photos and the police were called. This led law enforcement to question the boys, who apparently gave police all the information they needed, which led to the teacher’s arrest.
Even though both young men were 18-years-old at the time, they were still technically high school students, as they hadn’t graduated as of yet. Moon Township Police Chief Leo McCarthy was clear on this incident. “Regardless of your age, whether you’re an adult or not, if you’re a high school student, a teacher cannot have sexual relations with you.”
According to Web Pro News today, the police could not file any charges against the teacher for sending the students naked photos because the boys were 18-years-old and not minors. This case is a bit bizarre because the time line here is just a few days between this being illegal and legal behavior. If this had happened after the kids had graduated, then there wouldn’t be a crime, accept for one of the minors drinking a beer, which the teacher supplied.
The promiscuous teacher has been fired from the school district and she faces a few charges including providing alcohol to a minor and institutional sexual assault. The institutional sexual assault is considered a felony of the third degree, said McCarthy.
Back about 2007 a law was put on the books to protect people who are supervised by others from things like this happening, conveyed the police chief. This teacher is not only facing legal troubles, but her name has been made public, so she’ll most likely be wearing an invisible scarlet letter for some time.
She has caused herself public embarrassment that will likely stay with her for a very long time. If you think about a 26-year-old man dating an 18-year-old girl, that doesn’t seem like such a scandal. The boys were of legal age, but because these incidents happened between a teacher and her students, it is a crime by law.
