Even rugged Vermonters reach a point when they have had enough of the long winter season —they’re not all skiers and snowboarders!—and are counting the days until the ground and lake thaw and they can unburden themselves from their layers of wool and rejoice in the arrival of spring.
If you need a taste of spring now, and you love fashion, giving back to the community, and like to dance, head to Higher Ground this Saturday night, March 9th, to watch over 20 local retailers present portions of their spring collections at the 7th annual ONE Fashion Event, sponsored by Pomerleau Real estate, with support from KeyBank, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington.
The show will be held in Higher Ground’s Grand Ballroom. Doors open at 7 p.m., the show starts at 8 p.m., and a dance party will follow featuring popular local musicians, Dwight and Nicole (Dwight Ritcher and Nicole Nelson.) If Nelson’s name sounds familiar, it may be because she has competed on season three of NBC’s “The Voice.” Nelson also received Boston’s Music Award for “Best Female Vocalist of the Year” for 2012.

Location: Located in the old Showcase Cinemas

Directions: Take exit 14E (South Burlington) off I-89, follow Williston Road for 1/2 mile and pull into the Burger King and Dunkin Donuts parking lot, and park in the back.
Parking: Park in the spaces in front of Higher Ground and in the large lot on the Silver Palace side of the building.
Seating: Partial seating will be available for this event. The seating is general admission and first-come, first-served.
