The Eton Senior Citizen Center has tickets on sale until 4 p.m. tomorrow for its upcoming Mother's Day Tea.

Dearborn Heights residents must be age 55 and up in order to purchase the tickets, which are $10 each (the purchase must be in advance of the April 30 deadline). Those buying tickets for the May 7 Mother's Day Tea are asked to bring 25 cents for the table drawing, as well as their favorite tea cup, to the event at Eton Senior Center, 4900 Pardee.

“And if you like to wear a fancy hat, we'd like you to bring that too,” Eton Senior Citizen Coordinator Carol Spaeth said. “It's like in the old days, when people would dress up and hold tea parties.”

Spaeth hopes to get dignitaries to serve tea to the ladies, like “our two judges, the city council members and the mayor.” The menu is to feature soup, with add-ons and a salad bar (plus a salad bar).

“There is all kinds of stuff we will be putting in, bacon bits and croutons,” Spaeth said. “We will have ham, chicken, pepperoni—anything that you can make into salad.”

Providing entertainment for the 1-3 p.m. Mother's Day Tea will be Twice as Nice, a two-person group featuring singers with a keyboard. There will be prizes.
