Tickets now on sale for Plan-B Theatre Company's Wallace

The desire to reach out and touch the past is at the heart of many history-based plays, but many find an equal fascination in the thought of major historical figures being able to reach out and touch each other. The human race is a tapestry, and the thought of apparently distant threads secretly knotting together radically changes how we see the pattern.

That fascination comes to mind again with Plan-B Theatre Company’s upcoming world premiere of “Wallace,” running March 5 through March 14 at the Rose Wagner Theatre in Salt Lake (138 W. 300 South). The production intertwines two solo plays - FIRE! by Jenifer Nii (based on the writings Wallace Thurman, commissioned by Plan-B Theatre) and “Where I Come From” by Debora Threedy (based on the writings of Wallace Stegner, commissioned by the Wallace Stegner Center for Land, Resources and the Environment). One was a major force in the Harlem Renaissance, and the other was a well-known Western writer, but the two knot together in the home they both shared – Salt Lake City. (Wallace Stegner shown at right.)

Though it’s just over a month until the play hits the stage, it’s a good idea to get your tickets as quickly as possible. Plan-B productions have a reoccurring tendency to sell out (particularly when you’re most interested in seeing a show, I’ve found), and all the seats for the show’s opening night are already gone.
