As each October for the past 20 years the Dallas Children's Theater Cabaret Gala is the performing arts fund raiser of the Metro Plex. I have attended several and last years, Carole J. Bufford’s performance has to go down as one of the all-time favorites, for virtuoso singing and communicating the fun and folly of life to an appreciate audience. The Gala is traditionally held in the historic cabaret Venetian Room of the Dallas Fairmont Hotel. The cozy room and intimate stage is perfect for performers who love the contact they can have with the audience.

Who will be this October’s guest star?
Hold your breath, it may be announced soon, as the champagne and dessert evening is always a sellout. If you can’t wait until October to get your theater fix, you can support the Dallas Children’s Theater with the many shows for youth of all ages.

The schedule from now on is:
Through February 23, 2014 is “Go, Dog. Go” all about dogs in cars and perfect for children 4 and up.

February 14 – 23 is a new family musical of “Little Women” with an all teen cast retelling the hopes and dreams of Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. Perfect for ages 9 and up.

March 7 – 30th, 2014, The Kathy Burke Theatre of Puppetry presents “Beauty and Beast” for ages 5 and up.

March 21 – 30, 2014 is the North Texas Premiere of the bilingual musical, “Mariachi Girl” for ages 8 and up.

April 25 – June 1, 2014, “Charlotte’s Web” is up followed by “Stuart Little” June 13 – July 13, - both good for ages 5 and up.
