Now the countdown can officially begin: advanced ticket sales for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 began early Friday morning in metro Atlanta.
The film, which marks the end of a ten-year cinematic journey which began in 2001 with the theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, will give fans the much anticipated final battle between Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and his longtime nemesis, Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes).
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 is the eighth and final film in the Harry Potter franchise, which is based on the best-selling novels by J.K. Rowling about a boy who is unknowlingly the hero of the Wizarding World. The films have journeyed Harry Potter's seven-year school career, in which he learns about being a wizard, battles Death Eaters and other bad wizards, makes (and loses) friends, experiences death, and learns about a prophecy which pits his fate against that of the most powerful Dark Wizard in the world - all before he turns 17 years old.
The first seven films have grossed over 6 BILLION dollars worldwide, and is the best-selling franchise in box office history. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, and will be in theaters July 15, 2011.
