Ticats re-sign Peter Dyakowski

A day after locking up Marwan Hage, the Ticats inked another potential free agent to a contract extension by re-signing offensive lineman Peter Dyakowski to a deal that will run through the 2015 season.

Dyakowski has been one of Hamilton’s best linemen the last few seasons, but finally received accolades last year. He was named an East Division all-star for the first time in his career in 2012, a year after being named Hamilton’s top offensive lineman. Dyakowski also received added exposure after being named “Canada’s Smartest Person” last March.

Dyakowski was drafted in the second round of the 2006 CFL draft after a stellar career at Louisiana State University, winning a BCS national championship with the Tigers in 2004. He signed with the Ticats in 2007.

By re-signing Dyakowski, the Ticats are assured of bringing back four of their five offensive line starters from a year ago. The only starter not currently under contract is Brian Simmons.
