Tia Norfleet is a Fraud

According to the New York Times, NASCAR driver Tia Norfleet's deeds fail to match her words. Norfleet is a 24-year old driver from Georgia who proclaims herself as the first African American female race driver. Her dad, Bobby Norfleet, was an actual racecar driver in the early 1990 but Tia Norfleet is being accused of over-exaggerating and even lying about her status as a racecar driver. In fact, she has only competed in one low-level race last year at the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia where she only completed one lap.

The New York Times article says that Norfleet has for several years portrayed herself as an accomplished driver in the sport, and says she intends to compete in a full schedule this season in NASCAR Nationwide Series, but she is not even licensed to compete at that level. Even worse, Norfleet had indicated that she was planning to race in an Arca event at Daytona International Speedway last month.

However, she had not completed an application to race for Arca; had not bought an Arca license; and had not participated in a test at Daytona in December, which was required to race there. I am uncomfortable with Tia representing herself in the way that she has, said Marcus Jadotte, NASCA vice president for public affairs and multicultural development.
