Who wants to stay in on a Thursday night? Stop doing your taxes! Put on fancy shoes and go to Tisane Euro-Asian Café, located at 537 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT. Whether you plan to “shine bright like a diamond” to Rihanna during karaoke or simply nurse a Vanilla Lemongrass Martea-ni, Tisane has a warm and cozy ether for all to enjoy.
Tisane is known for its sandwiches and organic flatbreads, including the Caprese Flatbread and Buffalo Flatbread dishes. More commonly, the café is celebrated for its wide selection of fruity, tea infused alcoholic beverages, such as the Cucumber Martea-ni, which is a stimulating mix of cucumber, gin and sweet lemon green tea, or The Ginger Dragon, which is put together using a special house-made ginger and green tea infused vodka. There is also a selection of specialty coffees, like the Honey “Buzzz” Latte which mixes espresso, vanilla, steamed milk and Seagram’s honey or the Mexican Cappucino, which adds Kahlua and tequila to a regular Cappuccino.
With a drink menu so extravagant that every choice begs to be purchased and consumed, it would be a shame to deprive customers of music, dancing—singing. Tisane hosts many events—Tuesday night is “Boyz Night” with DJ Rzasa. Wednesday night features tunes with DJ Legacy. But there’s only one night of the week where many come to drink and conspire with friends over what song to perform for the exuberant crowd. Karaoke is held from 10 pm to close on Thursday nights only, and is always a hit.
What’ll it be? Do you believe in life after a poppy Cher classic or is a Billy Joel piano oldie still rock and roll to you? Or maybe you don’t want to sing—that’s okay too! You’ll have a whole slew of terrible (and often shockingly fantastic) singers waiting to entertain you as you eat a late night sandwich.
