Tuesday was a mostly dry and warm day across Tampa Bay. After patchy morning fog and lows mostly in the lower 60s, highs climbed into the lower 80s under partly cloudy to partly sunny skies around the area by the afternoon. No precipitation was recorded at any of the observation stations around the area.
Wednesday’s weather for west-central Florida will be similar to that seen around the area on Tuesday. The morning temperatures may start out a few degrees warmer, but the afternoon will be almost a carbon copy of what Tampa Bay residents and vacationers experienced on Monday and Tuesday.
However, an approaching cold front will bring a line of showers and thunderstorms through the area on Wednesday night. At this time, it appears the severe weather threat will remain well north of Tampa Bay, but beneficial rain and an isolated strong thunderstorm are possible with this system.
Behind the front, much cooler conditions are expected across west-central Florida for Thursday and Friday. While Tampa Bay is expected to avoid a freeze with this cold-weather outbreak, areas to the north of Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties could see a freeze on Friday morning.
Wednesday’s weather forecast for Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay’s weather forecast for Wednesday calls for partly cloudy to partly sunny skies. The precipitation should remain to the north and west of the area through the afternoon, but an isolated shower cannot be ruled out. Morning lows will range from 62 to 70 degrees. Afternoon highs will climb to between 80 and 85 degrees.
Cooler forecast for Thursday and Friday
The weather overnight Wednesday and into Thursday will be rather wet and stormy. However, the bulk of the precipitation is expected to clear Tampa Bay by daybreak Thursday morning. This will lead to cooler and drier conditions across west-central Florida.
Morning lows will be fairly mild on Thursday morning, ranging from 58 to 65 degrees. In contrast, Friday morning lows will drop to between 35 and 52 degrees. Highs both afternoons will climb to between 65 and 72 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
Warmer conditions return for the weekend
The weather across west-central Florida is expected to warm up again by the weekend. However, temperatures are not expected to reach the near-record levels experienced around Tampa Bay early in the week.
Skies for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be partly cloudy, with no significant chances of precipitation expected. Morning lows will drop to between 42 and 55 degrees all three days. Highs each afternoon will top out between 72 and 80 degrees.
