Soon Coney Island will have a new roller coaster besides the world famous Cyclone. But this new roller coaster, the Thunderbolt, will include a loop, and will open to riders on May 22, 2014.
The Thunderbolt will be one hundred twenty five feet tall and it will go as fast as sixty five miles an hour. It will be a great asset to the park who has come so far to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy and with increased park goers expected to come in the 2014 season.
The ride itself is not new to Coney Island though. It ran from 1925-1982. It was dismantled in 2000. But like the Cyclone, which almost was taken away from the area, the people will find a way to get back what belongs.
Coney Island is a great spot to spend the day without having to travel far or needing a car to get there as opposed to other amusement parks. It is family friendly and between the beach, amusement park, and the food, there is much to see and do.
