Thunder By the Bay, presented by Sarasota Ford and FCCI Insurance Group, features special guests like The Marshall Tucker Band, which will perform at 4:30 pm on Sunday, January 6th. "This year's festival will offer two new events and plenty to see and do for everyone", said Festival Director, Lucy Nicandri.
It’s a rain or shine event with proceeds that began with a new event called the "Kick Start" Party on Thursday, January 3rd, that featured select whiskeys, wines, and fine cigars at Michael's Tasting Room. The “Born To Be Wild” Kickoff Party on Friday, January 4th, was held at the Hyatt Regency and featured a silent auction, Harley-Davidson fashion show, casino style gaming, and live entertainment.
On Sarasota’s Main Street on Saturday and Sunday, January 5th & 6th, a dozen bands perform live on two stages. The event features great food and over 80 vendors.
Another new event, "Light Up The Night" LED Bike Show is scheduled for Saturday, January 5th, continuing on Sunday, January 6th, with a 15 class bike show. Both bike shows will take place on Palm Avenue.
Also on Sunday, January 6th, there will be a “Cruise for Cash” scenic ride for motorcycles offering $4,000 in cash prizes. Registration is from 9am-11am at O’Leary’s Tiki Bar and Grill.
Net proceeds benefit Suncoast Charities for Children, which benefits children and adults with special needs and their families.
