Tailgating season is upon us and there’s nothing more American than football. Whether you're tailgating at your favorite team's stadium or throwing a tailgate party in the comfort of your home there are a few basics that you need to make the event complete. Nothing will define your tailgating party more than the food that you serve.

Simple snacks are always great to have on hand like chips and dip and assorted nuts but your crowd is going to need more than that for rooting for their favorite team or yelling foul at the opposing team. For more sustenance and for a meal that'll stick to your ribs it's time to fire up the grill with some bratwurst and kielbasa. More hearty than ordinary hotdogs and a tailgater's favorite turn up the heat on this fan favorite with Chef Michael Symon and Knob Creek Bourbon with his full flavored recipe for Bratwurst and Kielbasa Knob Creek Rye Jalapeno Beer Broth. Make sure that you start this recipe prior to kickoff since the bratwurst and kielbasa will need to soak for a little bit before throwing it on the grill. Here's the recipe:

BRATWURST & KIELBASA IN A KNOB CREEK® RYE JALAPENO BEER BROTH

RECIPE BY CELEBRITY CHEF MICHAEL SYMON

Recipe Serves 12

INGREDIENTS:

12 Bratwurst

2 Jalapenos Split

1 Red Onion Halved

2 Cloves of Garlic

1 Bay Leaf

2 Tablespoons of Your Favorite White Ale

8 oz. Knob Creek® Rye Whiskey

PREPARATION:

1. Bring jalapenos, red onion, garlic, bay leaves white ale and Knob Creek® Rye Whiskey to a boil in a large sauce pot

2. Remove broth from heat and add Bratwurst

3. Leave Bratwurst in liquid for from 15 minutes to one hour

4. Remove bratwurst and char on grill

While you're waiting for the brats to soak up how about serving your guests and yourself a Knob Creek Bourbon Big and Stout? Beer may be the norm at a tailgating party but try something unique instead.

KNOB CREEK® BOURBON BIG AND STOUT

RECIPE BY CELEBRITY CHEF MICHAEL SYMON

INGREDIENTS:

1 Part Knob Creek® Bourbon

1 1Ž2 Parts Sweet Stout

3Ž4 Part of Demerara Sugar or Simple Syrup

1 Whole Egg

METHOD:

1. Pour all ingredients into a shaker and dry shake (without ice) to emulsify proteins

2. Add ice, shake vigorously

3. Strain into cocktail glass

Strong enough for the men at your party yet with just a touch of sweetness for the ladies this recipe by Chef Michael Symon will be a hit with all your guests. Prefer a bit of a warmer drink? KILBEGGAN® TAILGATER'S TODDY

INGREDIENTS:

2 parts Kilbeggan® Irish Whiskey

1 part DeKuyper Buttershots

Hot water

METHOD:

Build all ingredients into a pre-heated coffee mug.
