The Snap it Up! Thrift Store in Lincoln, CA, has a purr-fect goal – raising funds for FieldHaven Feline Center. The thrift shop opens its front door to retail customers and its back door to community donations. Operated by volunteers, the shop offers a full range of gently used clothing, household goods, and seasonal decorations for sale – all proceeds benefiting the local cat community.
FieldHaven - Founded in 2003, FieldHaven created a safe haven at a local horse ranch for cats awaiting adoption. The non-profit rescue soon expanded to spay/neuter services, cat fostering, and other feline-related programs. Today volunteers offer advice, education, and other help to individuals and the cat-friendly community. Funds come from book sales, car donations, retail shopping partners and donation programs as well as workplace giving.
SNAP - The Snap It Up! Thrift Store’s goal is funding FieldHaven projects such as SNAP, a spay/neuter assistance program. Through SNAP’s Trap Neuter Release program, feral and stray cats are trapped, fixed, and then returned to their original location. The SNAP program also provides low and no-cost spaying and neutering for cats in Lincoln and the surrounding area. Placer County’s cat overpopulation results in thousands of stray and feral cats dying each year from disease and euthanasia. The FieldHaven and affiliated vet health services reduce unwanted litters and screen for diseases in feral and stray cats.
Benefits - The local thrift shop gives the community an outlet for donating clothing, dishes, horse tack, and pet-related goods. Customers find unusual gifts, vintage clothing, antiques and collectibles. Items not suited to the shop are recycled to other outlets. The cats get the glory and goodies without lifting a paw.
Location - The Snap It Up! Thrift Store is at 590 McBean Park Drive, Lincoln, CA. Phone (916) 434-0622.
