It would appear that fans of James Bond will have to be patient while they wait for the next installment. MGM expects it will take 3 years for the next film to be released. MGM Chief Executive and Chairman Gary Barber says:
“We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director.”
Daniel Craig is sure to return since he has signed on for two more films. There is no news about whether Ralph Fiennes, Ben Wishaw, or Naomie Harris will return to reprise their roles. Although the character of Q has become quite a hit with fans as one can see by looking through the Skyfall tags on tumblr. Not to mention the popularity of his Q mug. One can only hope he returns to fill the young quartermaster’s shoes again.
There is no further news to report since MGM hasn't picked a director yet. But it is fun to imagine the kind of James Bond film one might get from a directors like Christopher Nolan, David Cronenburg, or Duncan Jones. In the meantime fans will simply have to speculate and hope the next film can stand up to its predecessors quality.
