There are a few noteworthy pet business changes in the Worcester area.
Long-time Leicester Animal Clinic partner Dr. Barbara Nygard has opened a new animal clinic a few months ago called Hilltop Animal Clinic. Located on Route 9 at 1485 Main St in Leicester, the clinic provides all the usual services found at most veterinary clinics. A well-needed alternative venue in this busy-populated pet-loving community. Check out Hilltop's web site at www.hilltop-animal-clinic.com/index.aspx
In the late summer of 2012, an exciting development happened between Sweet Pea Animal Shelter and Palatine Kennels, of Rutland and Paxton, respectively. Palatine Kennels closed in 2012 and Sweet Pea need to move to a larger location. While Sweet Pea's directors had wanted to keep the organization in Rutland, the Paxton location of Palatine, was ready-made, convenient, and too good to pass up. The facility is right on the Rutland/Paxton town line, on Route 122, 1090 Pleasant St in Paxton.
In addition to running Sweet Pea's shelter, the organization also offers boarding and grooming services to the public for both dogs and cats, in keeping with Palatine's own history. Palatine was a family-run business in Paxton for many, many years and they always provided excellent service. Topping off the news of this made-for-each-other match is the inclusion of veteran Palatine Kennel employee Melanie Kenadek as manager of Sweet Pea. Melanie is an excellent pack leader, a hard worker, and more experienced than just about anyone else in the area. Congratulations to Melanie, and here's a link to their web site: http://www.sweetpeafora.org/index.html
