One person remained in critical condition Tuesday night after a three-vehicle collision that also injured a detention officer hours earlier in northwest Atlanta.
So far, police have not released any of the names of the people involved in the wreck, which happened shortly before 6:40 a.m. at 466 Northside Drive.
And so far, no one has been charged, according to Atlanta police.
Investigators said the driver of a black Chevy Impala was traveling southbound on Northside Drive when the vehicle drifted over into the north bound lane and struck a white vehicle then struck another vehicle, a silver Toyota, head-on.
“The driver of the silver Toyota, a Fulton County Sheriff Detention Officer, had to be extricated from her vehicle,” police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said. “She was transported to Grady Hospital with leg injuries.” She was conscious and alert when she was transported, police said.
A passenger in the black Chevy Impala was transported to Grady Hospital and was in critical condition, Officer Jones said.
Police are still trying to determine what caused the driver to drift into oncoming traffic.
