Three teenagers and a 57-year-old man who was riding a lawnmower were killed Thursday afternoon in Murray County. And investigators said speed played a role in the crash that killed them and also injured a fourth teen.
The deceased teens have been identified as 17-year-old River Sosebee, 17-year-old Joshua Roberts and 18-year-old Chelsie Hullender, all from Chatsworth, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety. The man riding the lawnmower has been identified as Bryan Bartley, of Dalton, DPS spokeswoman Franka Young said.
The wreck happened at 5:18 p.m. Thursday when Sosebee was driving a 2006 Nissan Titan XE eastbound on Old CCC Camp Road, allegedly at a high rate of speed, Young said. It's unclear where the teens were going when the wreck occurred.
“The driver attempted to negotiate a curve, lost control and the vehicle overturned rolling over the driver riding a lawnmower,” Young said.
Roberts and Hullender were in the back seat at the time of the crash, Young said. It’s unclear if they were wearing seat belts. Another teen, 18-year-old Alexis Pinson, also from Chatsworth, was in the front seat when the crash occurred, Young said. She was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center, Young said. Her condition was unknown late Friday.
it's unclear if there were any witnesses to the wreck, still the investigation is ongoing, officials said.
