Three shot dead in vacant home: 5-year-old girl witness to mom’s murder

Two women and one man were found shot to death in a vacant home in Detroit’s west side on Wednesday, March 7, around 9 a.m. Police also discovered three children alone but unharmed in the home. A neighbor from the community told police that one of those surviving children, a 5-year-old girl, watched as her mother was killed, according to The Detroit Free Press.

In addition to the 5-year-old girl found in the home, two other children, ages 1 and 5, spent the night alone in the house with the three murder victims.

Police actually responded to a 911 call last night around 10:30 p.m. about shots being fired in the neighborhood, but were provided the incorrect address of the location. Then this morning, another 911 call came in with the correct address.

One of the victims, the 25-year-old mother of the 5-year-old girl who witnessed her mother being shot, was taking classes at Wayne County Community College and had informed those close to her that she had recently purchased the vacant home.

Carolyn Hubbard of Ypsilanti who knew the young murdered mom said that the victim was a good person who was trying to get her life together.

Once a vibrant Detroit neighborhood, many of the homes in the area where the three murders occurred last night are now boarded up and vacant.

Including the 25-year-old mother that was killed last night, a 20-year-old woman and a 24-year old man were also shot dead.
