It was a raw and rainy day on Oct. 26 when qualifiers took their shots at winning $1,000 of golf and other prizes in the three Oktoberfest Shootout events held at Anderson Links, Cloverdale Links and Emerald Links.
The men and women, who had qualified during daily closest-to-the pin competitions at the courses during October, had two chances each to cozy up their efforts to the cup. First prize was $1,000 worth of golf while any balls that settled within a 15-foot radius of the pin would win 10 rounds of golf and balls stopping inside of 20 feet earned the player five rounds of golf.
The men swung from 150 yards out and the women looked to knock it close from the 130-yard markers.
Following the competitions, all players and fans were invited to warm up by enjoying free chili and garlic bread in the clubhouses.
