“Three’s Company” returns to San Francisco with original cast in tact for just 12 performances at Finn’s Funhouse, beginning Jan. 25, 2013.
The original live San Francisco mostly drag cast is returning not Suzanne Somers, Joyce DeWitt or the late John Ritter. Even though with D’arcy Drollinger, Jane Wiedlin (of the super music group The Go Gos) and Mike Finn in the roles, one might not notice too much.
“It was easy to get everyone from our original cast to want to play together again..we are all friends,” says Finn, “but finding a chunk of time that we were all available was the tricky part. We all have other projects cooking.” Finding the time is one of the reasons that the show will only run three weeks and cannot be extended as many of the actors have other commitments when they are done with this show.
Episodes being spoofed this year include “Chrissy’s Night Out” and “The Fast.”
According to Finn, “Night Out” has Jack and Janet panicking when they discover that at 3am Chrissy isn't home yet from evening out with the girls from the office. When Chrissy does get home she's in tears because a cute guy she met at the Funky Fox bar has mistaken her friendliness for something else. A few minutes later the "cute guy" arrives at the apartment, and before he has a chance to identify himself as Detective Lannigan of the Vice Squad, Jack, in an angry burst of protectiveness, flattens him.
“The Fast” has Janet wagering with Jack and Chrissy as to which one can go longest without their vice: women for Jack and snacking for Chrissy.
Throw into the mix Matthew Martin as Mrs. Roper, Sara Moore as Mr. Roper, Laurie Bushman in multiple roles d the beauty and history of the Funhouse itself, and you’re guaranteed a winning evening for just $20. It plays at 7pm and 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays through Feb. 9.

If you're outside of San Francisco, TheatreWorks' production of "Somewhere" is smack dab in the middle of its run (closing Feb. 10). It stars Tony winner Priscilla Lopez (from "A Chorus Line" and "In the Heights").
In the show's regional premiere, the dance musical tells of a family that, while "West Side Story" is practically is filmed on their doorstep, redevelopment threatens to ruin their sky-high hopes with low-end reality.
It's very much a family production off stage as well as writer Matthew Lopez is the nephew to star Priscilla Lopez.
It runs Tuesdays-Sundays with evening performances and Saturday and Sunday matinees. There is no Feb. 9 matinee and no evening performance Feb. 10. It plays at Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Get tickets and information at www.theatreworks.org.
