Deep Silver released three new screenshots from their upcoming game Sacred Citadel. Judging form the screenshots, it looks a lot like Castle Crashers. Check out the new images in the slide show above.
Developed by Southend Interactive (known for titles such as Tecmo Bowl Throwback and R-Type Dimensions), Sacred Citadel is a side-scrolling beat 'em up with RPG elements that will be available on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade sometime in 2013. A more specific release date hasn't been announced yet.
It is a co-op game by nature with three characters out of a total of four characters being playable (consisting of the Khukuri Shaman, the Ancarian Ranger, the Safiri Warrior, and a yet-to-be-revealed secret character). RPG elements include the ability for characters to level up, acquire new skills, and find new equipment. Custom weapon combinations will also be possible. There will of course be mounts, shops, potions, and loot as well.
The storyline of Sacred Citadel will also directly relate to the upcoming action RPG Sacred 3, currently being developed by Keen Games. Sacred 3 is also scheduled for a 2013 release.
