Three new businesses have chosen to make Forney their new homes, and all three have construction well under way. That’s good news for residents who are eager for more food choices, because each of the new establishments are restaurants. There are also two non-food businesses coming that plan to open between now and February.
Dippin’ Dave’s Ice Cream Shoppe
This ice cream shop will be located in the Kickapoo Trace Center at 571 S. FM 548 suite 112. The cross street is FM 741. They will be in the same shopping strip as Lazy J Coffee, Quattro Tasti Deli and The Hole Thing Donuts. They don’t have a grand opening date set just yet, but they may literally be opening any day now. Their goal was to open in January 2012. According to their Facebook website, Dippin’ Dave’s will be serving “Banana Splits, Sundaes, Shakes, Cones, Pie, Cheesecake, Popcorn, Sno-Cones, Nacho’s and Hot Dogs.” The store hours are scheduled to be Monday thru Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday thru Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. They will be closed on Sunday’s.
Los Hermanos Mexican Restaurant & Cantina
They will be located at 426 FM 548 suite 116, in the same shopping center area as Brady’s Burgers. The Center is known as Mustang Crossing. The Los Hermanos restaurant in Terrell has received decent reviews for its Tex-Mex cuisine. It seems strange that this restaurant will be opening in the same shopping center as the newly opened Cristina’s Fine Mexican Restaurant, but if the menu prices are right and the food is good, it should work out for them. Look for them to be opening sometime in February 2012.
Tokyo Bay Hibachi and Sushi Bar
Mustang Crossing will also be the site of a new Japanese restaurant. There is no exact opening date just yet, but they are hoping to be open by the end of February 2012. For a town with some nice choices of Chinese food, it will be good to see the Japanese restaurant opening their doors in Forney. Sushi lovers in Forney will rejoice. According to the sign in their window, they have applied to be able to sell alcohol at the restaurant.
Ideal Dental just opened at 724 E. Hwy. 80 suite 128, and the owners of Mustang Crossing have also announced that a new nail salon, Euphoria Nail Spa, and a new donut shop will be opening at the center between now and the middle of February. It’s true that Forney has a plethora of nail salons, dentists and shops, but new business is usually a good thing for a community. All of these new businesses opening in Forney are bringing new jobs and additional choices for local residents.
