Three more reasons to visit Central Florida for your 2014 vacation

There are many reasons why the Orlando area is the number one tourist destination in the world. With Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld dominating the theme park landscape, plus the other parks in the area including LEGOLAND, Busch Gardens, and more, you are never without options for your need to visit a good amusement area while in Central Florida. The food scene is also top notch, with more and more specialty restaurants opening in the area every day.

On Jan. 7, Falcon's Fury at Busch Gardens surpassed the 300 feet mark.

This year is a growth year for the themed industry. Numerous new projects are underway, and a few of these are even on the way to opening this year.

The Local Getaways Examiner wanted to try and give you a couple more reasons to visit this amazing area of the world, and possibly a couple ideas as to how to spend your vacation fund.

  1. Universal Orlando - On Thursday, January 23, Universal Orlando Resort will unveil all-new details about its highly anticipated, entirely new themed environment, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, opening this year at Universal Studios Florida. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley will be an entirely new themed environment located at Universal Studios Florida, expanding upon The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, - which opened in June 2010 at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. The new area will feature shops, a restaurant and an innovative, marquee attraction based on Gringotts bank – all directly inspired by the fiction and films.
  2. LEGOLAND® Florida - As an appreciation for their continued service, all active duty military personnel including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists are now entitled to free single day admission to LEGOLAND Florida and the LEGOLAND Water Park (open seasonally).
To redeem their free admission ticket, active duty military personnel should present their military identification card to LEGOLAND Florida’s ticket window the day they plan to visit. Family and friends of military personnel also receive substantial discounts on admission tickets and should make purchases in advance through participating military base ticket offices.
  3. Busch Gardens Tampa - Falcon's Fury is a 335-foot (102 m) drop tower under construction as of 2013 at the Busch Gardens Tampa Bay amusement park in Tampa, Florida, United States. The ride will be North America's tallest free standing drop tower and the first drop tower to feature 90-degree titling seats (facing riders straight down). Falcon's Fury is manufactured by Intamin and is scheduled to open in Spring 2014.

Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the many improvements and special programs offered by the numerous tourist attractions in Central Florida. Stay tuned to this column for the latest news about all of the programs and attractions mentioned above, and more!
