When it rains it pours. Cincinnatians have been appreciating the break in the excessively rainy weather recently. It's been a great weekend for getting outdoors for a cookout or maybe wandering around a yardsale or flea market. Next weekend will be a fantastic weekend for pottery. Those who love and appreciate fine ceramics will have no shortage of beautiful items from Art Nouveau, Modernism, Post Modernism, and Contemporary works to view and to purchase when three major auctions take place in the Queen City.

Humlar & Nolan, located at Tower Place Mall downtown, will offer a major auction entitled Rookwood XXI: Keramics 2011, Art Glass 2011 & World War II Posters. Saturday, June 4th will begin with works by famous art pottery manufacturers Weller and Cowan, including an iconic Viktor Schreckengost Jazz Bowl. That afternoon will see the sale of impressive works of art glass from Art Nouveau masters such as Steuben, Tiffany, and Lalique, among many others. Also on the afternoon of June 4th will be a collection of vintage World War II posters from the Vernon Rader collection.

On June 5th Humlar & Nolan will auction off 400 lots of Rookwood pottery, including a Gorham sterling silver overlay Standard Glaze vase. Preview all these items at the Tower Place showroom, 28th W. 4th St., from 10 am - 4 pm Monday through Saturday until the auction starts. Bidding will also take place online through LiveAuctioneers.com.

Treadway is also offering a pre-auction preview of classic American art pottery at its gallery in O'Bryonville, 2029 Madison Road.
