Three Long Island bands announced to play this year's Skate and Surf Festival

Skate and Surf is back for the second year in a row after an eight year hiatus. The popular music festival will be taking place at the Middletown Sports Complex in New Jersey on May 17 and 18.

Bears and Motorcycles, Patent Pending and NGHBRS are three Long Island based bands included in the initial line-up announcement earlier this week.

A variety of other artists have also been announced, including notable reunions from early 2000s pop-punk bands Midtown and Hidden in Plainview as well as The Early November, Circa Survive and hip-hop artist DMX.

The festival started in Asbury Park, N.J., in 2001 and eventually grew out to become the Bamboozle Festival, which in later years was held at the Meadowlands Sports Complex hosting everyone from Fall Out Boy and Muse to Snoop Dogg.

More band announcements are expected to come as the festival approaches. Long Island based bands will have a chance to win a spot by competing in an annual battle of the bands put together by the organizers behind the outdoor concert called The Break Contest.

Weekend passes went on sale earlier this week for $104.99 before fees. Single day tickets will be made available on March 18 at a currently unannounced price.
