Three key MMA fights added to UFC 159: Jon Jones vs Chael Sonnen card (Video)

According to a Jan. 30 report from MMA Junkie, three exciting MMA fights have been added to the UFC 159: Jon Jones vs Chael Sonnen card.

Pat Healy (29-16 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will square off with top-notch lightweight contender Jim Miller (22-4 MMA, 11-3 UFC) in what will likely be a featured fight on the main card.

In other action, Phil Davis (10-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) meets Vinny Magalhaes (10-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in a light heavyweight scrap, while Cheick Kongo (18-7-2 MMA, 11-5-1 UFC) faces Roy Nelson (18-7 MMA, 5-3 UFC) in a heavyweight contest.

UFC officials did not reveal which of the three new matchups would appear on the evening's main card, both each appear worthy of consideration for the pay-per-view card.

Miller is coming off a convincing victory over Joe Lauzon, an exciting performance that will surely have him in the running for "Fight of the Year" candidate.

Davis and Nelson are also both household names that have competed on many UFC main cards in the past, so it would be surprising to see them compete on the preliminary card.

UFC 159, which is slated for Apr. 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, featured a light heavyweight title bout between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen in the headlining slot.

Expect many more UFC 159 announcements to come in the days and weeks ahead.

The latest UFC 159 card now includes:

  • Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen - for light-heavyweight title
  • Phil Davis vs. Vinny Magalhaes
  • Pat Healy vs. Jim Miller
  • Cheick Kongo vs. Roy Nelson
