If you are like most people in Louisville, Kentucky, you are enjoying the unseasonably warm temperatures. Many people are using this as an opportunity to get outdoors and explore all that nature has to offer. And what better way to do that than with your best friend; your dog. If you are looking for a place to explore with your dog there are some great local public parks in and around Louisville you should check out.
Long Run Park
Long Run park is located at 1605 Flat Rock Road, Louisville, KY 40245. This park has a ton of activities available for any member of the family. There are picnic areas, tennis, basketball, fishing, a playground, and more. Along with all of its amenities, Long Run park also has large open grassy areas that make it a perfect place for your dog to explore.
Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area
Otter Creek park is located about 30 minutes outside of Louisville, at 850 Otter Creek Park Rd, Brandenburg, KY 40108. This location encompasses more than 2,200 acres. After closing due to lack of funding, the park recently re-opened to the public. There is a small fee of $3 for anyone 12 years-old or older to visit the park. Even with the fee it's still worth a visit. You and your dog will have an amazing time here, and will have to return multiple times to explore all that this park offers.
Waverly Park
Waverly park is located 4800 Waverly Park Road, Louisville, KY 20214. This 300 acre park recently received a total overhaul to make it more user-friendly. It features a large fishing lake, playground, picnic areas, and more. It also has hiking and biking trails. There is more than enough space at this park for you and your dog to enjoy yourselves.
Providing your dog will a place to exercise and explore is an essential part of its care. With so many wonderful parks open to the public, there's no reason you and your dog can't get out and enjoy the day.
