I've had the same decorations pretty much since I first started college.
May was an extremely busy month for me, with weddings and graduations…and moving to Fargo. Although I previously lived a couple hours away, I chose to write for the Fargo area because I knew I would be moving here in the next few months.
So, for the past couple days, I’ve been busy moving into my new apartment and trying to unpack, along with two other girls. Let me tell you, it’s been an interesting few days. When you have three college-age girls living in one apartment, there really is no decorating theme (that I can see, anyway). You put all your things together and what you get is what you get.
We all have our own rooms, so we can decorate them any way we like. My sister, who is one of my roommates, got the living room furniture and a dining table from her previous roommates when they moved out of their place. It’s a little worn, but when you’re broke, you’ll take what you can get.
We also picked up a few items from a garage sale for a price we couldn’t turn down.
And, being girls with love for candles and anything else that’s cute, we have more decorations than places to put them. I had to pick through my boxes and take out only what there was room for. The rest goes into storage.
When you’re just out of college, living in an apartment, and broke, you really can’t be choosy about the things that decorate your place. I’ll save that for when I have a good job and enough money to buy a house…
