The legal teams from ABC and Prospect Park are still busy negotiating what will become of the three characters of Todd, John and Starr. While the legal teams are doing their best to come to a resolution, the stars themselves are forbidden to set foot on the set of “General Hospital” after February 8th. This news was leaked in a Facebook message that Michael Easton, the actor who plays John, posted to his fans. He wanted them to know he would not be at the set on his birthday. Many fans were planning on sending the star cards, cakes and other types of presents. Michael asked his fans if they wanted to do so, they could instead make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
This news does not come to a shock to many fans that have been following the ups and downs on the current status of the rights to these three characters. Prospect Park still owns the rights to the characters. However, the stars themselves are under contract with ABC. In a perfect world, there would be a way that all three characters could visit the town of Llanview, when the reboot begins taping, at least to tie up some story endings. Then once the stories are completed, they could visit as needed. However, they would still call their new home of Port Charles their primary residence. Yet, this option may not work.
There have been rumors that ABC believes that there is a lot of money to be made with Prospect Park. This may include the deals they have with iTunes, Hulu and other companies to promote the reboot of “One Life To Live.” Of course, there were talks that Prospect Park also other merchandising ideas to go along with the show. Plus, if they can reach a deal to air the shows on a network station, there will be more money. For this reasons, ABC may agree to give Jeff Kwatinetz, the head of Prospect Park anything he wants, even if does cost them to lose three vital characters of “General Hospital”, which has recently gained in the ratings.
Of course, there have been no real reports about what is to become of these three characters. There also have been no reports about what the starts themselves wishes to do. There have only been rumors, except for the fact that after February 8th the stars won’t be on the set. How long this will last nobody has stated. For now the soap opera stories continues, both on and off the set.
Update: One internet site, michaelfairmansoaps.com , just stated that a spokesperson from ABC said that the three stars will continue to be seen on the show until March. Later, the show plans on having the actors play new characters. Meanwhile, Prospect Park plans on recasting the roles of Starr, John and Todd. What do you think? Would you like this idea if this source is correct?
