From time to time rescues become desperate for help. They can only do so much and must rely on helping hands to save the pets they can.
Rutherford County PAWS is a high kill shelter, but only because they have a high intake, or drop-off rate. Employees do their best to work with rescues, notifying them when a dog's time is up and trying to delay the euthanasia of especially heart-wrenching cases. This was one of the weeks they reached out for help with three special dogs.
Right now, rescue coordinator Tammy Woods is working hard to make sure these three dogs make it out alive.
"We need help!" said Woods. "We have rescues out of the area willing to take these dogs, with loving families willing to give them homes, but for now we have nowhere for them to go!"
Many times rescues in areas less affected by pet overpopulation are willing to set up transports to get dogs that would otherwise be killed in Tennessee shelters. But before they can pick them up, the dogs are required be housed outside of the shelter for two weeks.
"We provide foster families with as much help and support as we can," says Woods, "But there simply aren't enough people willing to give them a home for a little while."
Sometimes boarding kennels are used, but most rescues simply can not affort the $200+ that it costs to pay for it.
The following dogs need a two week foster home TODAY in order to be saved.
- Myah is a female boxer. She is spayed and around 6 years old.
- Latte is a pitt bull/labrador mix. She is already spayed and said to be a real sweetheart. She is around 8 years old.
- Al is a male shepherd mix. He is about 6 years old and loves everyone.
